This catalogue was published on the occasion of Ann Weber's winter 2007 exhibition at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, Strange Fruit. Mark Van Proyen, Professor as San Francisco Institute of Art, explains how the featured works are "uncanny in the way that they allude to ideas of the Self that seeks an understanding of itself both as subject and object." The work's simple beauty, he continues, "shows us that usable structure can be coupled with a recognition and respect for the ultimate impermanence of all things, and in so doing, places wisdom and generosity in the place where fear once held sway."
