OCTOBER 2008 – We are excited to announce that Alex Kanevsky’s paintings will be featured in the highly anticipated Charlie Kaufman film Synecdoche, New York being released on October 24.

SEPTEMBER 2008– Kenneth Baker @ the SF Chronicle reviewed Emanuel Bernstone’s exhibition, his first show in the United States.

JANUARY – MARCH 2008 – The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art is exhibiting a solo show of Doug Glovaski - Mapping Time. Chief Curator Cathy Kimball says of the work, “His paintings are not about the beauty of the landscape. Rather, the artist embraces the natural decay of his urban environment, finding beauty if entropy.” Please come to the opening reception on February 1st from 6 – 8 pm.

DECEMBER 2007 – Kenneth Baker @ SF Chronicle reviewed Suhas Bhujbal’s exhibition A Quiet Town at DCG The Paint Strokes between Realism and Abstraction Saturday, November 4th. DCG also exhibited at two fairs in Miami during December 6-9th: Aqua Wynwood & Red Dot. Doug Glovaski’s work was acquired for the permanent collection at the Achenbach Graphic Arts Council for the DeYoung Musuem. Kim Frohsin received a multi-page spread article in ARTWORKS Winter issue.

JULY – SEPTEMBER 2007– DCG is pleased to announce that five artists, Jeffrey Beauchamp, Suhas Bhujbal, Shelley Hoyt, Nila Oakes, and Noah Wilson’s work will be featured at The Triton Museum of Art. The exhibition “Landscapes: Rural and Urban Realities” will open on July 7 and last until September 20th. The opening reception will be on August 3rd from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

MAY 2007– The Crocker Museum of Art, Sacramento, has acquired artwork by Alex Couwenberg, John DiPaolo, and Kirsten Stolle.

APRIL – JUNE 2007 – The Triton Museum of Art, Santa Clara, will include two drawings of Stephen Namara’s for the exhibition “Drawings, Visions, Surfaces, and Beyond.”

MARCH 2007 – DCG celebrated its 10 Year Anniversary. It truly was a memorable evening where our artists and key staff members flew in from all over the U.S. to meet and celebrate together. During a formal sit down dinner in the gallery, Donald Pippins’ pocket opera performed throughout the evening with follow up solo performance by virtuoso cellist Robert Howard and singer song writer Ben Marcoto with his guitar. Also, this month Sherie’ Franssen received several reviews for her exhibition at the Huntington Beach Fine Arts Center. Daniella Walsh of the OC Register reviewed Sherie’s’ exhibition Just an Inch of Ocean and Jit Fong Chin from SqueezeOC.com also reviewed the show in Art Imitates Strife.

MARCH 2007 – On March 3 from 5 – 8 o’clock in the evening we will be hosting the fifth annual party to benefit the MFA Scholarship fund of Saint Mary’s College of California Master of Fine Arts Program. JANUARY 2007 – The San Diego Museum of Living Artists is including one painting of Gary Ruddell’s in a group show. The show will run from April to June.

DECEMBER 2006 – The De Young Museum acquired a Kim Frohsin painting on paper for their permanent collection. Stephen Namara and Jim Phalen are featured in the December issue of New American Paintings. Artists were juried and selected by Ian Berry and Susan Rabinowiitz Malloy. Kirsten Stolle can be seen in the group exhibition titled “Natural and Unnatural: Imagining Landscape” at the Hunterdon Museum of Art, Clinton, New Jersey.

NOVEMBER 2006 – Kenneth Baker @ SF Chronicle reviewed Sherie’ Franssen’s exhibition Satisfaction is Nothing at DCG Visceral Art that Pushes Out of the Comfort Zone Saturday, November 4th. Ken Rosenthal’s solo exhibition in Uruguay entitled The Shadow Behind Your Eyes was reviewed in Pimba and Ken was interviewed for television Buen Dia Uruguay and was covered on three national networks for the evening news.

OCTOBER 2006 – The San Jose Museum of Art acquired two paintings on paper by Kim Frohsin for their permanent collection. Gary Ruddell was reviewed by American Art Collector magazine for his October exhibition entitled Small Changes.

SEPTEMBER 2006 – DCG exhibited ART(212) Contemporary Fair at The 69th Regiment Armory in New York on September 27 – October 1, 2006 featuring the work of John DiPaolo, Katina Huston, Alex Kanevsky and Ken Rosenthal. The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston purchased a Ken Rosenthal photograph for their permanent collection.

JULY 2006– The San Jose Museum of Art acquired two major paintings by John DiPaolo for their permanent collection. JoAnne Northrup, Senior Curator wrote the forward for the DiPaolo catalogue featuring work from his solo exhibition in May.

JUNE 2006– Kenneth Baker @ SF Chronicle reviewed Katina Huston’s exhibition Cyclone at DCG Letting Go of Handlebars with Artist’s Echoes of Duchamp Saturday, June 10. The Crocker Art Museum acquired a painting by Kirsten Stolle for their permanent collection. DCG exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair in New York at the Metropolitan Pavilion during June 15 – 18, 2006.

MAY 2006– The Wittliff Gallery of Southwestern and Mexican Photography has established a major collection of Ken Rosenthal’s photographs with an initial purchase of 75 prints. The University of Texas Press will publish, as part of the Wittliff Gallery Series of books, Ken’s first monograph.

APRIL 2006 – The Crocker Art Museum acquired a major painting by Alex Couwenberg for their permanent collection.

JANUARY 2006 - KQED Arts and Culture featured Alex Kanevsky’s exhibition Instances of Stillness at DCG. DCG exhibited at the Art Miami Fair at the Miami Beach Convention Center during January 5 -9, 2006.
